Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has extended the Honhaar Scholarship Programme to other provinces to include exceptional students.
In a meeting convened in Lahore, CM Maryam approved the scholarship initiative for students hailing from various provinces.
She announced an increase in the number of laptops available for students to 110,000 and instructed the creation of a dedicated helpline for inquiries related to the scholarship.
CM Maryam articulated that education and youth represent the nation’s greatest assets. “It is my aspiration that every child has access to a laptop. The Honhaar Scholarship Programme and the provision of laptops are entitlements for every student and a duty of the government,” she remarked.
She underscored that students from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are equally regarded as part of their family.
“I approach this matter with maternal concern. Our goal is to transform the future of every child. Any student who meets the merit criteria should seek admission to a reputable college, and the government will cover the tuition fees,” she stated.
CM Maryam also mandated the establishment of a dedicated helpline for students participating in the scholarship and laptop initiative. Furthermore, Punjab has set a minimum eligibility requirement of 65% marks for students to qualify for a laptop.
