NEW DELHI: Former prime minister of India Manmohan Singh has accepted the invitation of Pakistan to attend the inaugural ceremony of the Kartarpur Corridor.
According to details, Manmohan Singh will reach Kartarpur on 9th November.
Earlier on Monday, Pakistan had decided to invite Manmohan Singh on the inaugural ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had said that the decision to invite Singh was taken after high-level consultation.
The foreign minister had further stated that Sikh pilgrims would also be welcomed on the event that is scheduled to be held on the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.
The Kartarpur Sahib Corridor is scheduled to be opened on 9th November 2019 as work continues at the fast pace at the zero points.
The corridor will connect Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur with Dera Baba Nanak shrine in the Gurdaspur district of Punjab and facilitate the visa-free movement of Indian pilgrims, who will only have to obtain a permit to visit Kartarpur Sahib.
