LIAQUATPUR: A man on Tuesday drowned while taking a selfie with his phone in Chenab River near Rahim Yar Khan district.
The police confirmed the news that a man named Zeeshan Bashir was taking a selfie in a boat when he fell into the river. On getting information, a team of rescuers reached the site and launched a search operation.
The deceased’s body was recovered from the river after five hours of the search operation. Such acts have claimed several lives. Earlier, on 21st July, a teenager had lost his life after he drowned in the Khanpur Dam while trying to take a selfie.
He suddenly lost his balance while trying to get nearer to the edge of the dam to shoot a cool selfie and fell into it, said the rescue sources.
On Feb 06, a 19-year-old student had drowned in the Poonch River in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Hamid Raza, fell into the river while attempting to take a selfie on the brink of the river in Kotli district of AJK, police had said.
Earlier this month, a boy in Bahawalpur lost his life while filming a video. An 18-year-old boy in Narowal lost his life while making a video for the app.

On 21st June, a teenage boy had shot himself dead while making a video for TikTok in Karachi. In April, a 22-year-old man died after being hit by a train while shooting a video at the Jumma Goth railway station in Burns Colony.
In another incident, earlier in July, a teenage boy accidentally injured himself in the Firdous Market area of Lahore while shooting a TikTok video.
A teenager named Hamza fell from his rooftop while filming a Tik Tok video. He suffered severe wounds and was shifted to a hospital in critical condition, said the police.
