KARACHI: Residents of Karachi’s Malir district are facing intermittent gas outages along with an acute water shortage due to the slackness of Sindh government and other authorities.
According to details, citizens are paying bills for water but the government has completely failed to resolve the water issue facing Karachi. The state of injustice is such that where certain areas get a daily supply of water, others less fortunate have to wait from a week to a month’s time for their share to flow.
Meanwhile, due to the shortage of gas, residential users are facing immense trouble. Low gas pressure at homes has left families freezing, hungry and worried.
A resident of Malir said, “From roti to food, we have had to bring everything from outside today,” adding that they feared if gas outages continued, they would have to buy expensive LPG gas.
Citizens are protesting the reduction in the gas pressure. They are saying they are forced to use compressors because of the low gas pressure. The residents have urged the relevant authorities to install a new water supply system to make water supply possible.
