ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that whether one likes it or not, CPEC is a need of Pakistan.
According to details, speaking on a private TV program, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that there has been a national agreement on the PakistanChina Economic Corridor Project (CPEC).
During the talks, the foreign minister said that whether one likes it or not, CPEC has become the need of Pakistan which we will bring to a logical conclusion. “China did not ask to spoil the relations with the United States,” he maintained.
A private TV program asked if the United States had talked about relations with China. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi replied that no one speaks openly, meaningful things are said, he added.
Talking about Pakistan, China, and the United States, FM Qureshi said that no one had openly asked Pakistan to end its relations with China. He said that Pakistan also did not want to spoil relations with the United States, “We also do not want Kabul to be occupied. The Afghan government needs to be flexible,” he clarified.
He said that the Afghan government and the Taliban must work together to strengthen the Afghan peace process. Earlier, FM Qureshi said that the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) would have to decide whether it was a technical forum or a political one.
