According to the Meteorological Department, around 6mm of rain was recorded in the suburban areas.
Dark clouds are now gradually surrounding the city, bringing a drop in temperature and strong winds in some areas.
Met experts said more rain-bearing clouds are expected to approach Karachi later this evening from the India-Pakistan border in Sindh, which may bring thundershowers to other parts of the city.
Earlier in the day, the Met Office had forecast thundershowers in the afternoon or evening, with weather likely to remain partly cloudy during the next 24 hours.
