LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has rejected an injunction request to stop the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) elections.
Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court heard the request to stop the PCB elections. During the hearing, petitioner Gulzada’s lawyer, Faisal Naqvi, argued that the election of chairman PCB without zonal elections is an unconstitutional measure, and many voters, including the petitioner, were not included in the voter lists.
The petitioner’s counsel said that conducting elections without updating the voter lists is an unconstitutional measure, so the court should order the immediate stoppage of the election of the Chairman PCB and declare it null and void.
The court rejected the plea for an injunction and issued notices to the federal government, PCB, Election Commissioner, and other parties. It should be noted that the Election Commissioner of Pakistan Cricket Board Shehzad Rana has called a special meeting of the Governing Board at the National Cricket Academy Lahore on June 27 for the election of the new PCB Chairman.
The meeting will be held at 2 pm, in which the new chairman of PCB will be elected, and the members of the 10-member governing board will exercise their voting rights to elect the new chairman.
