Law enforcement agencies arrest ‘Anmol alias Pinky’ in major Karachi drug bust

KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies are reported to have arrested a high-profile suspect identified as Anmol, alias Pinky, during a major operation targeting narcotics networks in the city’s upscale localities, according to media reports.

The suspect, described by officials as a ringleader, was taken into custody in connection with an organized ring supplying expensive synthetic drugs, including ice (crystal meth), cocaine, ecstasy, and party pills, in areas such as Defence and Clifton.

The operation forms part of a wider three-day anti-drug drive that also covered Pak Colony, Mewa Shah and Jahan Abad, during which more than 480 drug users were detained across the city and shifted to rehabilitation centres. In a related encounter, three suspects were arrested after a grenade thrown at police failed to detonate.

Anmol alias Pinky, also referred to as “Queen Madam Pinky” in media reports, had allegedly been running a well-organised drug distribution network for several years. Officials said she had been on the radar of multiple agencies for a long time and was wanted in several cases, with dozens of raids previously conducted to apprehend her.

According to multiple media reports, she was arrested in Lahore and later brought to Karachi.

Investigators said the network extended beyond residential areas to educational institutions, with links to the supply of drugs in schools, colleges and universities. The suspect also allegedly introduced branded packaging for drug deliveries, with boxes carrying labels and markings linked to her identity in an attempt to establish a recognisable brand within the illegal trade. Following her arrest, she was shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Initial investigations suggest the network was involved in the monthly trafficking of drugs worth millions of rupees, with some media reports estimating earnings in crores per month. Related seizures announced in recent days include 11.7 kilograms of charas, 508 grams of ICE, and ecstasy pills valued at Rs10 million.

In a separate action, anti-narcotics authorities seized 21.6 kilograms of drugs from a motorcyclist in Karachi. Officials expect important revelations from the interrogation of Anmol alias Pinky that could lead to the dismantling of the entire network, noting that her brother and several associates had previously been detained.

While official statements have not confirmed allegations of police complicity, public commentary circulating in media reports reflects widespread skepticism.

Citizens have questioned how such networks operate in affluent areas and educational institutions without collusion, though no verified evidence of payments to police has been presented by authorities. The arrest has drawn significant public attention, with demands for stricter action and expanded raids in other localities. Investigations remain ongoing, and authorities have yet to release a complete FIR or detailed financial trail.
