The senior Supreme Court lawyer had been associated with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which appointed him as Governor of Punjab in 2011. However, when the party weakened in Punjab province, Khosa parted ways with it and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 2022. He was elected as a member of the National Assembly in the February 2024 election. Initially, he was very active, but he is currently sidelined from the party affairs of PTI.
