LAHORE: Heavy monsoon rain continued to lash the provincial capital on Saturday, with rainfall crossing the 100-millimetre mark at two monitoring stations and causing water accumulation in several parts of the city.

Media reports quoted data released by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) saying the highest rainfall of 104mm was recorded on Jail Road, followed by 102mm at the Lahore airport.
The rainfall data showed significant variation across the city. Kahna received 75.6mm, while Hadiyara Defence Road recorded 57.6mm and Manawan 57mm. Rainfall in Tajpura was recorded at 39.8mm, Mughalpura 32.8mm, Shadipura 28mm and Nishtar Town 27.6mm.

Other recorded rainfall included Johar Town 10mm, Chowk Nakhda 10.4mm, Gulberg 10.8mm, Aqtab 9mm, Samanabad 4mm, Iqbal Town 3.6mm, Sagian 3.6mm, Laxmi Chowk 3mm, Gulshan Ravi 1.6mm and Farrukhabad 0.8mm.
According to the PMD report, the city received an average of 24.1mm of rainfall during the spell that began at around 8:40am.
The heavy downpour resulted in water accumulation at several locations, affecting routine traffic and movement in parts of Lahore. Relevant civic and drainage agencies have been mobilised to clear accumulated rainwater and maintain drainage operations.

The latest spell comes amid an active monsoon system affecting Punjab, with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) already warning of possible urban flooding in Lahore and other major cities if heavy rainfall persists.
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during intense rainfall, particularly on waterlogged roads, and to remain alert to official weather and emergency advisories.
