Investigation of Lahore Police into the high-profile murder case of an American woman and her three children revealed that the mother killed the children before committing suicide.

According to Lahore Police, the investigation has revealed that the woman mixed potassium cyanide ordered online with ice cream and fed it to her three children and later committed suicide by eating the same ice cream. The police have arrested the owner of a chemical shop and a rider on charges of supplying prohibited chemicals.

DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza told a press briefing that the investigation, forensic evidence and other evidence have revealed that the mother of the deceased children was the main accused in the murder of her three children.

He said that two more accused involved in the incident have been arrested, including the owner of the shop selling prohibited chemicals online and the rider who delivered the chemicals.

According to the DIG, the woman searched the internet for several months regarding suicide methods. Since November, various articles and information related to suicide were on her mobile phone.

According to the investigation, the woman ordered potassium cyanide through an online contact and paid Rs 138,540 through MoneyGram for its purchase.

According to the police, the woman had come to Lahore from the US with her husband and three children and was living in a rented house in Valencia Town.

She ordered the parcel containing the chemical from a friend’s house, while on July 16, she received the parcel while meeting her friend at a private pizza shop. Police say the friend had no knowledge about the contents of the parcel.

The DIG Investigation said that on July 17, the woman mixed potassium cyanide in ice cream and fed it to her 15-year-old son Rehan, 11-year-old daughter Arisha and 9-year-old son Arsal. After poisoning the children, the woman ended her life by eating the same ice cream.

Zeeshan Raza said that a polygraph test was also conducted on the victim’s husband and investigations were conducted from every angle, however, all forensic evidence and circumstantial evidence indicate that the woman first poisoned her children and later committed suicide.

The DIG said that so far, during the investigation, only one thing has come to light that the woman was suffering from severe depression, was undergoing treatment and was also using depression medication. He said that the woman wanted to end the life of the entire family.

He said that the Lahore Police has solved the case with the help of modern technology, CCTV footage, digital evidence and professional investigation. A strong challan will be presented in court against the arrested accused so that they can be punished according to the law.
