LAHORE: The city police on Saturday arrested a man, identified as Tariq Khan, for harassing a woman travelling in a rickshaw on Ravi Road.
According to details, the suspect, on a motorcycle, followed the woman on her way back home. He made multiple attempts to stop the rickshaw and passed inappropriate comments at her.
The incident came to light when the victim’s male colleague posted video of harassment on Twitter. “This guy has been following and harassing a female colleague of mine for the last 4/5 days. She doesn’t have her own conveyance so she has to travel locally,” he wrote on Twitter.

After the video went viral on social media, the relevant police station took notice of the crime and arrested the suspect. Khan’s motorcycle has been seized and a case under Section 506 (insulting modesty or causing sexual harassment) has been registered at the Ravi Road police station.
The incident comes at a time when Pakistanis, especially women, are already on edge after the video clip of a woman being assaulted and harassed at the Minar-e-Pakistan on Independence Day went viral on social media.
