KARACHI: All the affiliated colleges and institutes in the public and private sectors, running under the semester system programs of the University of Karachi have directed to continue their courses online till July 15, 2020.
The assessment policy for online teaching will be communicated in due course of time. It was announced by the Karachi University Registrar Professor Dr Saleem Shahzad.
Meanwhile, as per the decisions of the recently held Academic Council meeting and the instructions of the KU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, the chairpersons of the concerned colleges and institutions are directed to be in touch with the varsity regarding the decision about the final semester examination.
Earlier, Karachi University (KU) had announced that it would initiate online classes to resume academic activities, as the country cautiously proceeds with a smart lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
According to a statement, the decision was taken at a meeting of the Academic Council which met today virtually to review the situation and decide about the future line of action of the university.
The council also approved to launch a training programme for the teachers for which deans would nominate the faculty members to be trained as master trainers.
“The dean offices would be the hub to facilitate the teachers, whereas, the Dean Faculty of Education, Professor Dr Nasir Salman, would guide the teachers in avoiding plagiarism and copyright matters during online classes,” the statement said.
The online classes and submission of assignments of different courses as per the approved course outline would be conducted.
