KARACHI: A case has been registered into the attack on Karachi Police Office, that took place in the evening of February 17, which left 4 people dead while 3 terrorists were killed in hours-long battle.

The case has been registered in the CTD Police Station on the complaint of Saddar Station House Officer (SHO) Khalid Hussain, under murder and attempted murders sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and multiple sections of the Anti-terrorism Act.

According to the FIR, a group of terrorists attacked the Karachi police at 7:15pm and used grenades side by side firing. Security forces aided the police in battling with the suspects.

Three terrorists had attacked the Karachi police office on Friday evening. In the exchange of fire, three terrorists were killed while four people including Rangers sub-inspector Taimoor and police official Ghulam Abbas lost their lives.

Nineteen people suffered injuries and they included Lt Col Jawad of Rangers and DSP of Special Service Unit Haji Abdul Razzaq. The injured are being treated at the hospital.
Meanwhile, Sindh police constituted a five-member committee to investigate the attack on the Karachi police chief’s office and supervise the case’s progress.
An order issued from the office of Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, copy of which is available with MM News, was issued last evening regarding the investigation committee’s composition.
The committee included Sindh Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Zulfiqar Ali Larik as its chairman while the other members included Karachi South Zone DIGP Irfan Ali Baloch, Crime Investigation Agency DIGP Muhammad Karim Khan, Karachi CTD Operations Senior Superintendent of Police Tariq Nawaz and Karachi CTD Investigation Incharge Raja Umer Khitab.
The order said that the chairman could co-opt any other member required for conducting the investigation.
