The report says each of the six to ten terrorists, who stormed the building, carried almost eight kilograms of explosive material in their suicide vests.

As per the report, the attackers had been wearing explosive vests, out of which one had been detonated by the bomber; while two had been defused by the squad.

It added that seven to eight kgs of explosives had been used in each suicide vest, following the intensity of blast recorded after one of the bombers detonated his jacket on the fourth floor.

The explosion damaged the building structure while the windows of the nearby buildings also shattered.

The report stated that the police officials recovered a white vehicle carrying a number plate (BSR – 636) from the scene and seized ammunition hidden inside it.

Meanwhile, investigation teams have identified several points and areas which fall in the category of ‘security lapse’ including negligence.

MM News has learnt from sources privy to the post-attack investigation that at the time of attack, three police posts across the KPO building were empty.

The terrorists entered the compound through Police Lines. They jumped over the back wall and broke into the building.

Sources said there was no security on the entry and exit points of the Police Lines Quarters. No CCTV cameras were installed there. There are 150 quarters in the Police Lines in which police officials reside with their families.

The police posts across the KPO building remained empty even after the attack.
