ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the first Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Supreme Committee meeting on Friday (today) to devise a political strategy for the second phase of local government (LG) polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
The development was confirmed by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry today. “Important organizational and policy matters will be discussed in this consultative meeting,” the federal minister wrote on Twitter.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar have also been invited to the meeting. Punjab Local Bodies Minister Mian Mahmood ur Rashid, Senator Saifullah Niazi and Amir Kiani will also attend the Supreme Committee huddle.
Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Asad Qaiser, Pervez Khattak and Murad Saeed will represent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Federal ministers Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Hammad Azhar and Shafqat Mehmood will also be in attendance.
Besides readying pre-emptive PTI moves, the meeting is also expected to make important decisions regarding local government elections in Punjab. The top-level huddle in the first phase will review the names of candidates for divisional headquarters and metropolitans.
A day earlier, PM Imran had directed the party leadership to adopt a joint strategy for the upcoming LG polls in Punjab. The premier advised that the Punjab leadership should consult with senior leaders to devise a plan of action to perform better in the Punjab LG elections.
He was presiding over a meeting of PTI members and senior leadership to hold consultations on local body elections in Punjab. PM Imran Khan said that he has always respected the views of senior workers and leaders of the party.
He decided to personally monitor PTI’s strategy for the LG polls in Punjab, saying that the party should prepare for the contest from this very moment.
