An alleged revenge attack over a love marriage in Khairpur has sparked accusations of a violent assault on a village, with residents claiming that more than 200 people looted homes and injured women during the incident.
According to the victims, more than 200 people attacked village Sarang Jogi near Pirsun, looting 10 houses. They alleged that women were also subjected to violence when they resisted, leaving four women injured.
The victims claimed that the attackers took away gold jewellery, refrigerators, grain, 17 goats, and other valuable belongings.
They further claimed that a video of the looting has also surfaced, showing the suspects carrying away goods on rickshaws and on their shoulders.
According to the victims, a few days earlier, Shehnila Jogi had married Shoaib Ali of her own choice, and the attack was allegedly carried out as an act of revenge over the marriage.
Police said the incident took place yesterday and that an inquiry is underway. Legal action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
