Karachi: K-Electric (KE) has announced a city-wide maintenance shutdown on 17 June, with electricity supply set to remain suspended in several residential, commercial and institutional areas as part of the utility’s scheduled network maintenance programme.
According to the maintenance schedule released by KE, more than 30 feeders and RMUs will be affected by temporary power outages of varying durations throughout the day. The utility said the shutdown is aimed at carrying out essential technical works to improve network stability, reliability and service quality.
Most of the affected feeders will remain without electricity from approximately 8:59am to 5:59pm, while several others are scheduled for longer or shorter shutdown periods depending on the nature of maintenance activities.
Among the feeders facing outages until the evening are Agha Shahi, Alig Old Boys CHS, Azeem Pura RMU, Country Tower, Firdous Textile, Global City, Haroon Heights, Hunaid City, Hurriat Nagar, Kashmir Colony RMU, KBR Society, Khaliq-uz-Zaman Road, Kh-e-Tufail Phase-7 Extension, Muneeb Kamil (Custom Society), Power Cell, Sector-5E and Tanga Stand RMU.
Power supply will also remain suspended in Army Housing (Sector-J) No.2, Fed Capital-4, Gulshan-e-Hassam, Madina Colony RMU, Nescos and Pak Scientific Society from 9:00am to 6:00pm, while M. Ishaq Enterprises is scheduled to remain offline from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Some feeders are expected to experience shorter outages, including CMH, where electricity supply will remain suspended from 8:59am to 2:59pm, and Lal Masjid, which will face a shutdown from 9:59am to 4:59pm.
Meanwhile, Defence-10, Khan of Kallat, Sea View-1 and Zulfiqar Commercial-13 are scheduled for maintenance-related outages from 7:59am to 5:58pm, while Sindh Medical College will remain affected from 7:59am to 3:59pm.
The longest outage of the day is expected in Zareen Colony (Ex Pak Ind Gases-2), where electricity supply will remain suspended from 9:00am to 6:30pm. Al-Ghafoor Atrium Tower is scheduled for a shutdown from 8:59am to 5:29pm, while Akber Motors will remain offline from 9:59am to 5:59pm.
KE has advised consumers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements in advance and apologised for the inconvenience. The utility said the planned maintenance activities are essential to strengthen Karachi’s power distribution infrastructure and reduce the likelihood of unplanned interruptions in the future.
Residents have been encouraged to stay informed through KE’s official communication channels for updates regarding restoration times and any changes to the maintenance schedule.
