KCR revival: SC issues contempt notice to PR, Sindh govt

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan has issued contempt notices to Pakistan Railways and the Sindh government on Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) in the railway deficit case.

The railway deficit suo-motu notice case was heard in the Supreme Court of Pakistan today where Chief Justice said that if required, the Prime Minister will also be summoned in the case.

The court asked why its order was not implemented. Departmental correspondence was sent but the order of the Supreme Court was not performed. The court remarked that the Secretary Railways and the Chief Secretary had committed contempt of court.

The court directed Secretary Railways and Chief Secretary Sindh to appear in person. The court asked why the Karachi Circular Railway project was not activated. The court also directed the DGFWO to appear in person and give an explanation.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that now the matter will not stop there. “Now everyone will be called and if necessary, the prime minister and chief minister of Sindh will also be called. Chief Justice of Pakistan adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
