Bollywood filmmaker and host Karan Johar announced with a heavy heart that he won’t be returning with a new season of his popular chat show ‘Koffee with Karan’.

Karan’s announcement comes after reports that ‘Koffee With Karan’ was being renewed for a new season and was expected to feature celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, and Siddhant Chaturvedi amongst others.

In an emotional announcement on social media, Karan Johar put all speculations to rest saying,  “Hello, Koffee With Karan has been a part of my life, and yours, for 6 seasons now.”

“I’d like to think we’ve made an impact and even found our place in pop culture history. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that Koffee with Karan will not be returning.”

‘Koffee with Karan’ was launched in November 2004. It was the one of the longest-running talk show on Indian Hindi-language television. The show concluded its sixth and final season on 17 March 2019 and quickly became popular.

‘Koffee with Karan’ was noted for its uniqueness, especially that of Johar’s style of hosting. Its success is credited, in particular, to the fact that it is able to rope in some of the biggest names in the Indian entertainment industry.

While the show is not returning, on the work front, Karan Johar has his hands full with ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’. Currently being shot, the film features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles along with veterans Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi.

The film is being readied to release on Valentine’s Day weekend in 2023. Besides this, Karan is also producing multiple ventures from the Varun Dhawan starrer ‘JugJugg Jeeyo’, to ‘Liger’, ‘Brahmastra’, ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’, ‘Govinda Naam Mera’, and ‘Selfie’ among others.
