Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, a decision has been made to move all remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 to Karachi. Officials have stated that due to the ongoing cross-border hostilities, Karachi has been deemed a relatively safer venue.
According to details, a high-level meeting between officials apparently from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Ministry of Interior concluded with a consensus that the remainder of the tournament should be relocated to Karachi in response to the heightened security risks.
However, officials have also indicated that if the situation deteriorates further, the PSL could potentially be shifted abroad, with Dubai or Doha being considered as alternate venues. A final decision on any such international relocation is expected by this evening.
The move comes in the wake of recent drone attacks on various Pakistani cities reportedly carried out by India, and retaliation by the Pakistan Army, which claims to have shot down 12 Indian surveillance drones. During these operations, four Pakistani soldiers were injured, while in Ghotki, one civilian lost their life and another was injured.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), condemned the acts as open aggression by India, adding that such provocations had also occurred a day earlier.
