KARACHI: Pakistan were all out for 438 in their first innings against New Zealand on Day 1 of Karachi Test on Tuesday. Southee finished with 3-69, two each for the spinners and 1 for Wagner.
At one point, Pakistan were 48/3 after opting to bat first with centuries from Babar Azam and Agha Salman, they finished with 438 runs on the board. Babar Azam scored 161 runs and Agha Salman hit 103.
Azam now has 1,170 runs in nine Tests this year — the highest run scorer in Tests in 2022. He also beat Mohammad Yousuf´s 2006 aggregate of 2,435 in all three formats, taking 2,584 runs across the board this year.
Salman’s 155-ball 103 included 17 fours. He added 54 crucial runs for the seventh wicket with Nauman Ali, who played a gritty knock of seven runs in 75 balls.

Pakistan lost the wicket of Babar Azam early on Tuesday before also losing Nauman Ali, Mohammad Wasim Jr and Mir Hamza. Agha Salman kept them going on Tuesday with his century. For the Blackcaps, Tim Southee scalped three while Ajaz Patel, Michael Bracewell and Ish Sodhi clamied two wickets each. Neil Wagner took one wicket.
