KARACHI: The metropolis is all set to enter into a renewed phase of action against encroachments and illegal parking on government lands, aimed at restoring public spaces and improving traffic flow across the city.
A meeting of Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi, to review enforcement measures against encroachments on government properties, roadside violations, and illegal parking. The session focused on strengthening ongoing operations and ensuring consistent follow-up against repeat offenders.
During the meeting, it was decided that cases will be registered against individuals who repeatedly establish encroachments on government land. Authorities emphasized that enforcement will be intensified to deter recurrences and support the regularization of civic areas.
In Kemari, officials stated that action has been ramped up to demolish illegal shops operating for an extended period at Maripur Truck Stand and to restore smooth movement of traffic in the area.
The Commissioner was also briefed that illegal counters and platforms have been removed in Firdous Market, Lalu Khet, while illegal constructions were demolished in North Nazim Block M. Operations are meanwhile underway in surrounding areas including Liaquatabad, Gharibabad, and near Sindhi Hotel.
Further updates shared with the Commissioner indicated that encroachments and illegal parking have been eliminated in Serena Mobile Market. In District Sharqi, two puncture shops and three cabins were removed, while one additional cabin was confiscated.
The briefing also covered removals made to address traffic obstruction on Malir 15 and M9. Enforcement operations were conducted in Korangi at Singer Chowrangi, Singer Bridge, 12,000 Road, Ghausia, and Babar Market, during which more than 100 carts and over 50 stalls and cabins were removed.
Authorities said anti-encroachment operations are continuing across all districts on a daily basis, reflecting a coordinated and sustained effort to curb illegal occupation and reinstate the rule of law on government land.
