Karachi has been ranked as the second most dangerous city for tourists worldwide, according to Forbes Advisor’s list.
The assessment, which evaluated 60 international cities based on seven key risk factors—crime, personal safety, health, infrastructure, natural disasters, and digital security—placed Karachi just behind Caracas, which scored 100. Karachi received a safety score of 93.12, while Yangon, Myanmar, was ranked third with a score of 91.67.
Other cities featured on the list include Mexico City, Lagos, Manila, Dhaka, Bogota, Cairo, and Quito. Forbes’ analysis indicates that Karachi’s high-risk ranking is largely due to its political instability, high crime rates, and inadequate infrastructure and health services.
Travelers to Karachi face heightened risks related to terrorism and street crime. The city also struggles with frequent power outages, poor sanitation, and insufficient public transportation, which contribute to its low safety rating.
Forbes’ comprehensive study aims to provide travelers with essential information about potential risks associated with various destinations. In contrast, Singapore, Tokyo, and Toronto have been recognized as the top three safest cities in the world.
