Mohammad Arslan Abbas, the son of former Pakistani cricketer Azhar Abbas, is set to debut for New Zealand in their upcoming match against Pakistan. Arslan, a versatile middle-order batter and bowler, earned his selection in the New Zealand squad due to impressive domestic performances.
Azhar Abbas, who played 45 first-class matches in Pakistan, relocated to New Zealand with his family and continued his cricket career, representing Auckland and Wellington. Currently, he serves as the assistant coach for the Wellington Firebirds.
Arslan’s inclusion comes as New Zealand faces the absence of senior players such as Mitchell Santner, Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, and Glenn Phillips, who are participating in the IPL.
