Just two days back, armed robbers snatched a whopping Rs59.4 million from builder Raheel Abdul Ghaffar in Karachi’s Bahadurabad neighbourhood.
Police registered a case and started active investigation, followed by multiple raids in Karachi and Hyderabad.
According to SSP East Zubair Nazir Sheikh, the robbery was committed on the basis of information provided by an insider, i.e. the driver of the builder, after which three suspects were arrested.
Police said the culprits had distributed the robbed amount among themselves, and kept it in three boxes. Around 30 million rupees have been recovered, the police said.
On Tuesday, it may be recalled, the victim informed the police in his statement that he is a resident of Defence Phase IV and has an office under the name of OK Estate & Builder in Bahadurabad. He narrated the details of the incident, stating that at around 11 o’clock on Tuesday evening, he was in his car along with his driver when their car was intercepted by two accused riding a car near a superstore and bakery in Bahadurabad.
He further said that two more accused riding a motorcycle were also involved, taking the total number of suspects to four.
“At gunpoint, they asked us to come out of the vehicle and drove away in our car. I had Rs59.4 million wrapped in four pieces of cotton in the vehicle. The accused also snatched our mobile phones and cash in our pocket and fled with the cash in the car,” the victim said, adding that the accused were dressed in shalwar kameez, and their age was around 30 years.
