KARACHI: Indian-backed Jamaat-ul-Ahrar militants attacked a Pakistan Rangers Sindh camp in Karachi, but were stopped by an immediate response from troops, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to ISPR, the Khawarij launched a cowardly attack on June 27. The assailants blew up the camp’s main gate and tried to breach the perimeter in Karachi. Rangers personnel responded quickly and foiled the attempt during the fight three militants were killed and one was arrested injured.
In the exchange of fire, three Jamaat-ul-Ahrar militants were killed and one wounded suspect was taken into custody.
Three soldiers were martyred and four personnel were wounded during the attack, ISPR added. Clearance operations are under way to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored militants in the area.
Security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to eliminating foreign-sponsored terrorism under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision, the statement said.
ISPR also said Pakistan will carry out retaliatory action against those behind the attack to avenge the martyrdom of its soldiers. The Army Chief and the Chief of Defence Forces have condoled with the families of the martyred personnel.
“These sacrifices only reinforce our resolve to protect the nation at all costs,” ISPR said.
