LAHORE: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam (JUI-F)’s Azadi March was diverting the nation’s attention from the Kashmir issue.
While talking to media in Governor House Lahore today, the foreign minister said that due to JUIF chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s Azadi March, attention was diverted from Kashmir issue.

He said, “Indian media is projecting Pakistan’s internal issues in a negative manner. Their government thinks that we have forgotten Kashmir issue and their strategy has been successful.”

Speaking on Azadi March, the foreign minister said that there was uncertainty in JUI-F demands.
He said, “The demands of JUI-F are not clear. You can compare this sit-in with the previous one. We used to say that it was not our purpose to derail democracy.”

He added, “Moreover, our workers were arrested from houses and women were subjected to violence, but we have given a free hand to participants of Azadi March.”
Shah Mehmood Qureshi further requested the participants of Azadi March to protest within the ambit of the law.
