ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided not to attend the All Parties Conference (APC) called by Awami National Party (ANP) to address the ongoing political and constitutional turmoil in the country.
The APC is scheduled for May 3, but PTI’s decision not to attend the meeting was made after the reservations of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) were taken into account.
Sources familiar with the matter said that PTI initially agreed to attend the APC on ANP’s invitation but later decided against it after JUI-F’s objections. JUI-F had announced that they would not attend any forum where PTI is present, as they have boycotted the party on every platform and will continue to do so.
ANP sources have stated that they have not been officially informed about PTI’s decision yet. It is worth noting that JUI-F delegation met ANP leader Mian Iftikhar on Sunday and raised concerns about PTI’s participation in the APC.
Reports now suggest that after PTI’s denial, JUI-F will attend the APC.
It may be added here that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and ANP have already underlined the importance of dialogue among political parties to address the ongoing political and constitutional crises in the country.
The PPP delegation led by Senator Yousuf Raza Gillani approached ANP for the same. Political analysts believe the APC is expected to play a crucial role in bringing together various political forces to resolve the current turmoil in the country.
