ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has placed the name of Pakistan Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Jam Abdul Karim on its Provincial National Identification List (PNIL) to prevent him from leaving the country after his arrival from abroad.
The FIA is expected to arrested the lawmaker upon his arrival in Pakistan. Jam Karim fled to Dubai after being accused in Nazim Jokhio murder case, but is expected to return in order to vote in the no-confidence motion against the prime minister.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail had also written a letter to the FIA to place the lawmaker on the no-fly list. Jam Karim was scheduled to reach Islamabad via PIA flight PK 612 on Monday morning but did not arrive.
Instead Jam Karim managed to obtain a 10-day protective bail to return to the country. The MNA through his lawyer filed a contempt of court petition against Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, and others in the Sindh High Court (SHC).
Jam Karim said he had got protective bail from the high court on March 25 to return home. “Jam Karim wants to appear and surrender before the trial court,” according to the petition. “Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid has announced arrest despite the bail from the court of law,” the petitioner said.
The plea said Governor of Sindh has also wrote a letter to the government for adding his name in the exit control list, “They want to hinder his participation in the no-trust proceedings in the parliament,” the counsel of the petitioner said.
