ISLAMABAD: The government on Saturday significantly increased the price of jet fuel while announcing a reduction in the rate of light diesel oil (LDO), offering limited relief to segments reliant on the fuel.
According to an official notification, the price of jet fuel has been raised by Rs 53.11 per litre, taking its new rate to Rs 441.66 per litre with immediate effect.
In contrast, the government reduced the price of light diesel oil by Rs 21.07 per litre, bringing its new price down to Rs 265.84 per litre.
The revised prices came into force immediately, though no detailed explanation was provided for the sharp divergence in adjustments between the two petroleum products.

Jet fuel, primarily used in the aviation sector, is considered a key operational cost for airlines, and any substantial increase may add to pressure on airfares and transport-related expenses.
Light diesel oil, meanwhile, is generally consumed in rural areas and by certain industrial and agricultural machinery, making its price reduction a source of limited relief for some sectors.
The latest adjustment comes at a time when inflationary pressures continue to weigh heavily on households, with fuel price revisions often triggering wider increases in transport and commodity costs across the country.
