ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar called on President Dr Arif Alvi here on Wednesday for second time in recent weeks. He had his previous meeting with the President on November 18 in what was presumed as official contacts between PTI and the Shehbaz Sharif-led coalition government during which a consensus was reached on the name of newly Army Chief.
Analysts believe today’s meeting between Dar and President Arif Alvi was aimed at discussing the latter’s demand for snap elections in the country.

Imran Khan, it may be recalled, had announced to quit from provincial assemblies at the end of his Long March on November 26 in Rawalpindi, in what was believed to be his final card to press for his demand of early elections throughout the country.
Media reports suggested that today’s meeting between finance minister Ishaq Dar and President Arif Alvi continued for around 20 minutes and issues such as PTI’s demand for snap elections and PDM’s point of view came under discussion.
It was also reported that Ishaq Dar sought PTI’s help to resolve issues related to snags in dealing with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
