ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar called on President Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Friday. The meeting came just three days after PM Shehbaz Sharif was tested positive for Covid-19 and went into isolation.
The meeting between President Arif Alvi and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar came in the backdrop of two key developments, i.e. Pakistan’s default risk increased to 75%, and government’s intention to introduce amendment in Army Act that would enable PM Shehbaz Sharif to retain any officer with a single pen stroke. The government is expected to announce appointment of new Army Chief of Pakistan any day.

IMF, on the other hand, said it would not be sending its mission to Islamabad in the next two weeks, and that the disbursement of the next loan tranche will not materialise until January.”

Soon after the meeting, Ishaq Dar convened meeting of leading federal ministers and reportedly briefed them about his discussion with the President. Reports suggest Khawaja Asif, Ayaz Sadiq and others attended the meeting which was arranged at PM House.

Just yesterday, Dar also held important meetings with leaders of government’s allied parties. He called on PPP Co-Chairman and former president Asif Zardari at the Zardari House, and PDM President and JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
