Reports circulating on social media on Sunday that the federal government may be planning a change in the office of the Governor of Sindh, with senior PML‑N leader Nehal Hashmi emerging as a potential successor to incumbent Governor Kamran Tessori.
According to these reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has forwarded a summary to the Presidency seeking Governor Tessori’s removal, and Nehal Hashmi is expected to take the oath as the new governor once approved.
The narrative also ties this possible move to a broader power‑sharing understanding between coalition partners, the Pakistan Muslim League (PML‑N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), under which provincial governorships are being distributed.
However, there is no official confirmation yet from the federal government, the Presidency, or the Governor’s House about Tessori’s removal or Hashmi’s nomination. At this point, these developments remain unverified reports and political speculation.
This is not the first time changes at the Governor House have been speculated. Last November, different names have surfaced in media reports as potential replacements for Governor Sindh.
