ISLAMABAD: Massive irregularities have been detected in the Revenue Department due to the lack of interest by Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) Waseem Ahmed Khan.
The collection of new deposits has been halted at the revenue centre located in Chungi no. 26, causing immense hardships for depositors who cannot make any property transfers. There are over a dozen patwaris (revenue officers) at the centre while scores of illegally recruited workers can be seen there.
Ever since he was appointed, the ADCR has not visited the Tehsil head office or inspected any other revenue officer, leading to several irregularities and delays in filing of deposits.
The ADCR has directed to file out pending deposits and transfer which have delayed for the past four years. Despite repetitive orders, the filing of deposits has now been placed on the backburner due to the lack of professionalism in the department.
Citizens have complained that patwaris are not present in their office at Sector G-5, G-7 Circle Office and their valuable records are handed over to lower staff who are incapable of performing their studies and have no information of land records.
It is also alleged that these land records are handed over to the land mafia and are forcefully occupied. The presence of unprofessional workers and irregularities has raised concerns among the depositors.
They urged Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Deputy Commissioner to take notice and dismiss all illegally recruited workers. They also complained that the patwaris demand hefty amounts for land and property transfers without providing any receipts and no record is maintained.
