The United States has already incurred staggering financial losses in the early stages of its military campaign against Iran, with a new report estimating that the first 100 hours of air and ground operations alone cost Washington nearly $3.7 billion.
Analysts warn that if the conflict continues, the economic burden on the US could escalate dramatically, potentially running into tens of billions of dollars.
The report says that the ongoing conflict with Iran is costing the United States hundreds of millions of dollars each day, including expenses related to weapons, defense systems, and operational activities. It warns that a prolonged war could become a significant burden on the US economy.
The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) revealed in its report that the first 100 hours of the military campaign against Iran alone cost the United States approximately $3.7 billion.
This amount equals roughly Rs1.028 trillion, which is nearly half of Pakistan’s annual defense budget, around Rs2.1 trillion, spent by the United States in just 100 hours, or about four days of warfare.
According to the report, the US is currently spending an average of $891.4 million per day on the war, equivalent to about Rs247.8 billion in Pakistani currency.
The CSIS analysis noted that the initial phase of the war, including early air and ground operations against Iran, involved substantial costs due to the use of both advanced and conventional weaponry.
The report added that the early airstrikes were particularly expensive because they required the deployment of sophisticated weapons systems. Over time, however, the US military is expected to shift toward lower-cost weapons, which could reduce overall expenditures.
