Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on Afghanistan and Pakistan to settle their ongoing disputes through peaceful dialogue and the principles of good neighborly relations.
He made the appeal in a post shared on X in the early hours of Friday, using the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan to stress the importance of self-restraint and unity among Muslim nations.
Araghchi also reaffirmed Tehran’s willingness to play a supportive role in easing tensions between the two neighboring countries.
He stated that Iran stands ready to offer whatever assistance may be needed to encourage meaningful dialogue, build greater mutual understanding, and foster stronger cooperation between Kabul and Islamabad.
The call comes at a time of heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with Islamabad increasingly vocal about cross-border militant activity originating from Afghan soil.
Iran’s offer to mediate reflects its broader interest in maintaining stability along its eastern borders, with both Afghanistan and Pakistan sharing boundaries with the Islamic Republic.
