LAHORE: In a new development in the case of two women who died in custody at Township Police Station Lahore, medical board sources have revealed that injection marks were found on the arm and wrist of one of the deceased women.
According to medical board sources, there was a gap of 3.5 hours between the women being brought to the police station and their deaths.

The sources added that there is no significant difference in the post-mortem reports of the two women.
Earlier, Lahore Police had stated that the two women suffered heart attacks and that post-mortem examination found no signs of torture.
Procedural Lapses in the case
Police sources, meanwhile, have disclosed procedural lapses in handling the detainees.
According to the sources, the two women were not searched after being brought to the police station, and lady officers were not present at the time.
Sources said the women were brought to the police station on a call to 15. They remained with the Station House Officer (SHO) for two hours, during which the SHO was preparing to shift them to the ladies lock-up.
A case was subsequently registered and the women were handed over to the investigation wing of the police for onward transfer to jail. While preparations were being made to send them to jail, both women collapsed and died.
It has also come to light that there is no CCTV camera installed in the room of the investigation wing of the police station.
According to police, lady police personnel were deployed on duty at Data Darbar at the time, adding that women are searched before being locked up in ladies custody as per standard procedure.
On the other hand, medical experts are of the view that the deaths of both women may have been caused by ingestion of a poisonous substance, either eaten or administered. Experts say the exact cause of death can only be determined after forensic analysis of samples.
Further investigation is underway pending forensic reports.
