Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has reportedly been excluded from the shortlist for the Chancellor position at the University of Oxford. Khan, detained since August 2023 and prohibited from seeking public office in Pakistan, had applied for the role but was not selected as a candidate.
At 72, Khan previously served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022. Following his removal from office through a no-confidence vote, he has faced over 200 legal cases, which he alleges were influenced by Pakistan’s powerful military establishment. Khan studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at Keble College, Oxford, from 1972 to 1975 and captained the university’s cricket team during his time there.
