KARACHI: Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officials are using COVID-19 lockdown as an opportunity to receive bribe by allowing illegal infrastructure in different areas of the metropolis.
According to sources, the SBCA officers were seen demanding a huge amount of bribe by allowing illegal constructions on a plot no-1, F-318 in Liaqautabad town and Nazaimabad’s Firdos Colony plot no-14 and 13.
Sources further said four portions are being constructed in a signal floor at the residential plots. Illegal construction continues despite lockdown in the metropolis, the laborers are constantly working inner sides of the buildings, sources added.
On the one hand, the lives of the citizens are at risk due to the construction of four and five-storey buildings with low standard and faulty material as well as the accumulated capital of the innocent citizens is also engorged by the contractors and builders.
The area people alleged that despite being informed about the issue the SBCA director, Amir Kamal Jafari, Deputy Ddirector have not taken any step for resolving the matter.
They also alleged on the instruction of Deputy Director Shakail Jamali building Inspector Rizwan Khanzada is collecting bribe from the residents for allowing illegal construction.
SBCA DG Naseem Al-Ghani Sahto has not yet taken notice despite receiving many complaints and news regarding the illegal construction.
The area residents have requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan and Chief Justice Sindh High Court to take strict action against these corrupt officers over the issues.
