ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has restrained the Pakistan Television (PTV) Board from exercising its powers over the appointment of MD and Chairman.
According to details, the Islamabad High Court also upheld the restraining order on the dismissal of any employee from the state-run channel till the next hearing. The Court has sought answers from PTV on the formation of the Board.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani conducted hearing on a petition filed by PTV employees. During the hearing, a senior lawyer of the PTV board was not present, on which the court expressed anger.
The bench noted that the respondents had not filed their replies in the case to this the court ordered to serve them notices again for July 7.
It is worth mention here that during the last hearing, the Court had issued notices to the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Cabinet Division, and other parties seeking their response. The lawyer argued that the appointment of Chairman PTV Arshad Khan and MD Amir Manzoor did not meet the legal requirements.
Earlier on June 23, Pakistan Television’s (PTV) CBA Union Chairman Pervez Bhatti filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court, seeking justice for the employees. According to the petition, the PTV’s administration allegedly recruiting incompetent people by taking bribes worth millions.
