ISLAMABAD: A verdict has been reserved in the Islamabad High Court for a petition over shifting Pakistani students from China.
IHC judge Justice Athar Minallah conducting the hearing in which he directed the authorities of the government to move Pakistani students from Wuhan due to the epicentre of coronavirus.
The petition was moved to the IHC by petitioner Mian Muhammad Faisal in which he mentioned the secretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Health as respondents.
In his plea, he added that the coronavirus outbreak had far killed over 200 people in China and there were thousands of Pakistani students studying in Wuhan.
While pleading in the court, he requested to direct the government to explain what arrangements were made to tackle coronavirus in the country.
Scientists and health authorities around the world are racing to halt the spread of a deadly virus that emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December. Thousands of people have already contracted the new coronavirus, which causes respiratory illness. In this regard, the death toll is at 213 and is rising daily.
On 30th January, the World Health Organization (WHO) also declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern, an alarm it reserves for events that pose a risk to multiple countries and which requires a coordinated international response.
