The Islamabad High Court has granted bail to Amina Saeed, an accused in a case involving alleged violence against her husband and daughters, and issued an eight-page detailed judgment. The court ordered her release on bail against surety bonds of Rs. 200,000.
In the judgment issued by Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro, the court observed that, prima facie, the dispute between the parties appeared to be domestic and familial in nature.
According to the court, the video footage presented by the prosecution showed that after the incident, the accused herself took her husband to the hospital.
The judgment further stated that, according to the medical record, the injured persons had not sustained injuries that could be considered life-threatening. The court also noted that Amina Saeed holds a PhD in Philosophy, has no previous criminal record, and that the law provides women with certain concessions in matters relating to bail under specific circumstances.
Citing precedents set by the Supreme Court, the Islamabad High Court held that the case called for further inquiry. Therefore, at this stage of the proceedings, the court found the accused entitled to bail.
It may be recalled that a case was registered against Amina Saeed at the Women Police Station in Islamabad on the complaint of her husband, Saeed Ahmed. The case involves allegations of violence against her husband and daughters.
The court also clarified that if the accused is found to be influencing the proceedings, attempting to affect witnesses, or violating the conditions of her bail, the prosecution may approach the court seeking cancellation of her bail.
