ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has asked Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan to submit a written apology in the contempt case by 9th November.
During the proceedings today, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that it was a huge crime to level allegations in a sub-judice matter.
The judge said, “This court will not favour anyone. Action will be taken in accordance with the law.”
The justice added, “Every judge takes an oath with God as a witness, no matter how big a criminal, he has the right to a fair trial.”

The judge further added, “The court gets its respect through its judgments.”
Chief justice remarked that the court has to follow the law and cannot support any individual.
To this, Awan gave an unconditional apology to the court. She added that in her 20-year career she has never spoken about the courts. But the court asked for a written apology.

On 30th October, the IHC issued a notice to Awan under Section 3 of the Contempt of Court Ordinance, 2003, according to which she maligned the court while giving a statement that the hearing of a petition on the release of former premier Nawaz Sharif on Saturday evening was a special dispensation.
While the court on 1st November accepted Awan’s unconditional apology but issued another show-cause notice to Awan in the contempt of court case against her.
