Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movie ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue’ is all ready to stream on Netflix soon.
Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue is based on a real life hero named Jaswant Singh Gill, an Additional Chief Mining Engineer at Coal India, who put all his might into saving the lives of 70 miners trapped in the flooded bowels of Mahabir Colliery in Raniganj, West Bengal, in 1989.
In a race against time, when all conventional engineering methods failed, Gill came up with an escape plan to rescue the miners. Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue’ was released in theatres on October 6 in theatres.
The film, helmed by Tinu Suresh Desai, will start streaming on the OTT giant Netflix on December 1. The movie has also been submitted for the Oscars 2024. However, being an independent submission, ‘Mission Raniganj’ will not be eligible to compete for the Best Foreign Film Award.
According to an NDTV report, Akshay Kumar received a massive remuneration of Rs 110 crores for portraying the character of Jaswant Singh Gill in the movie. On the other hand, Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishan, who plays the role of Bhola in the biographical drama, received a payment of Rs 55 lakhs.
