Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay is one of the most intriguing dramas on air at the moment (CUTACUT)

Despite a lot of criticism on its current storyline, drama Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay’s viewership hits nearly 2 million on YouTube soon after it is uploaded. However, after the latest episode, the story has entered an interesting twist, as Mehreen apologized to Mashal’s parents for her uncommitted sins.

The drama has left no stone unturned to disappoint the Pakistani audience. Through this drama, Mahira Khan reappeared on the TV screen after a long gap of five years and joined an amazing cast of  Usman Mukhtar, Kubra Khan, Haroon Shahid, Shamim Hilaly, Zainab Qayyum, Huma Nawab, Laila Wasti, Umair Rana, yet the show failed to deliver the plot fairly.

With a plot of addressing childhood trauma to normalising toxic culture after almost 10 episodes, ‘Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay’ became everything the Pakistani audience least expected. Here are a few problematic scenes from the latest episode that needs to be addressed:

Mehreen and her Mashal phobia

Despite being innocent in Mashal’s suicide fiasco, Mehreen, who is a bright student, knows what is happening around her, still, she is haunted by Mashal’s ghost or flashbacks to the extinct that she fails to identify what’s reality.

Mehreen-Aswad’s toxic relationship

Aswad, a man raised in brought up in the US, working there, even spending his entire youth in the US, is so confused when it comes to judging people. He will believe whatever Mashal will say but fails to analyze things from his own eyes. Seeing Mehreen in a state of utter shock last night, he believes she was acting. Refusing to believe that it was him behind Mashal’s mysterious death, he pins it on Mehreen.

Role of Aswad’s mother

She is a graceful woman who is the only sane person in the whole drama yet she could not resist being a typical desi relative. When Aswad and Mehreen categorically denied her marriage proposal, she continued to pressurize both. When her son clearly said he wants to marry Mashal, she emotionally blackmailed her.

Now after marrying Mehreen on her will, she wants Aswad to divorce Mehreen, her rollercoaster episodes do not stop here, despite knowing there is nothing good between the newlywed couple, she is forcing Mehreen to dress well for Aswad as if nothing happened. This is something so problematic and has become so common in Pakistan that no one thinks it’s toxic.

Mehreen’s unapologetic apology for uncommitted sins

So Mehreen is forced by Mashal’s ghost to apologise to her parents for apparently killing their daughter which is already been confirmed that Mehreen did not kill Mashal. Even Aswad wants Mehreen to kneel down before Mashal’s parents, he would everything but would not apologise to Mashal’s parents for his one-sided commitment.

Interestingly Mehreen asks for forgiveness from her uncle and aunt for the sins she never committed.

Mashal’s unaware parents

So apparently Mashal’s father comes to know that his daughter used to take sleeping pills. He asks his wife and she denies saying it its all false and it is nothing but his mother and sisters’ plot against their deceased daughter.

As it is said that a relationship between a child and parents is pure but here in this drama, Mashal’s own parents were unaware about her whereabouts, what she is up to, how she is, and what she wants. This is a major drawback in one’s character.
