RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has declared 28 housing societies as illegal and registered cases against their owners.
The civic authority said the housing societies started construction without approving the layout plan and have deceived the public. Sixteen cases have been registered in Saddar police station, seven in Chontra, three in Rawat and one each in Naseerabad and Morgah police stations.
Among the societies without layout are Avenue Housing Scheme in Pind Nasrullah, Adiala Road’s Wadya Housing Scheme, Chakri Road’s Rahbar Colony, Rawal Enclave, Metro Homes, Safari Enclave, Ideal Agro Farm Houses, and Safari Green.
Illegal societies include Ideal City, Gulshan-e-Farzand Ali, Silver City Church Road, Airport Town Thalian, Madina Valley, Sapphire Villas and Maryam Green City on Adiala Road and Akbar Villas Taqwa Town and Hobby Town on Chak Bailey Khan Road.
These societies include Ameer City on GT Road, Blue World on Chakri Road, Abdullah City, Kashmir Paradise, April Garden, Islamabad Farm House, Rawal Farm House and CPEC Residence.
RDA Scheme Inspector Shehzad Mahmood submitted 11 applications to police for the registration of cases against the owners of the illegal housing societies. The authority said that the layout plan of the housing societies has not been approved they have not received any permit but started development work.
Yesterday, the DRDA registered four registered cases against four owners of five illegal housing societies at the Saddar police station on charges of defrauding public. First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered on the complaint of RDA building inspector.
The owners of illegal housing societies have been identified as Malik Nahim Asmat Khokhar (owner of Metro Homes), Sheikh Waheed (Abid Homes, Sapphire Valley), Malik Ghulam Mehboob and Malik Irfan (owners of Abad Pearl Villas), he said.
An RDA spokesman said the authority is continuing crackdown against illegal housing schemes and is taking action against illegal housing schemes on the directives of the Punjab government and Director General RDA Chaudhry Maqbool Ahmed
DG RDA along with RDA operation team visited Adiala Road and inspected five illegal Housing Schemes namely Abad Pearl Villas, Metro Homes, Abid Homes, Sapphire Valley and Sapphire Valley
RDA has registered cases against owners of these illegal housing schemes namely Malik Ghulam Mehboob, Malik Irfan, Malik Naeem Ismat and Abdul Waheed Sheikh.
Legal action has been initiated against the illegal advertisements and sale of plots by these respective housing schemes. The authority has appealed to the public to refrain from buying and selling plots in the said housing schemes declared illegal by RDA.
