LAHORE: A petition was filed at the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday challenging the recent rise in the prices of petroleum products.
The complaint was made against the federal government, the Oil and Gas Regularity Authority (OGRA) in the case of the recent hike of petroleum products in the country.

The petition states that, despite falling prices on the international market, the federal government increased the prices of petrol, diesel and other petroleum products for the month of January. The plea further stated that the OGRA raises excise tax on the sale of petroleum products by more than 17%.
Therefore, the petitioner has pleaded with the court to declare the recent rise in fuel prices as illegal and unconstitutional, and to give orders to the authorities concerned to lower the prices.
