Treason case: PBC approves plea in SC filed against LHC decision

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) will resume hearing the petition filed by former president Pervez Musharraf against his reserved verdict in the high treason case.
Justice Syed Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi will resume hearing today.
On 26th November, Pervez Musharraf filed a petition in the LHC against a verdict reserved by a special court in the high treason case against him.
The court also issued a notice to the federal government and summoned Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan to provide assistance to the court.

The court also sought a notification and summary for the formation of the special court.
The court overruled the objection and set the hearing on 28th November, the same day the special court was said to announce its verdict after hearing the arguments of Musharraf’s counsel.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad high court has stopped a special court from announcing the verdict in the high treason case against Pervez Musharraf.

The special court was set to announce the reserved verdict on 28th November for high treason. However, the interior ministry on Monday had submitted a plea, stating that the accusers to be tried with Pervaiz Musharraf, were not included in the trial.
The petition further said the prosecution team submitted written arguments for which it had no authority.
