There are reports that Hollywood actor Mathew Perry’s cause of death is currently being marked as ‘postponed’ and this decision is pending the results of a toxicology report as well.
A toxicology report is therefore required, which could “take weeks to complete”. However, the autopsy does not reveal any suspicion of a crime or the use of illicit narcotics, initially.
Famous for his role as Chandler Bing in the iconic 1990s sitcom ‘Friends’, Perry was discovered deceased at his Los Angeles, California residence on October 28.

A representative from the medical examiner’s office confirmed to People Magazine on October 29 that an autopsy had been conducted, with the toxicology results still pending. Although autopsies are typically completed shortly after a person’s passing, toxicology reports can take several weeks to provide conclusive findings.
According to official records regarding Perry’s cause of death, his body has been authorized for release to allow his family to make necessary funeral arrangements.
Matthew Perry’s final Instagram post on October 23 featured a photo of him sitting in a hot tub at night, wearing headphones. The caption read, “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.”
Perry suffered from severe addictions to drugs and alcohol. Through his recovery, he became an advocate for rehabilitation and spokesperson for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals. In 2013, he received the Champion of Recovery Award from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. In 2022 he released his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.
